Application: An anti wear support and insulating block fitted between
pipe and pipe rack to prevent corrosion caused by:
Background:
The under pipe support was designed in consultation with piping/corrosion
engineers to provide a simple, inexpensive, easy to install means of
protecting process pipes on pipe racks.
The simplicity and effectiveness of this product has produced rapid acceptance
by piping engineers who recognise it as an effective means of
eliminating pipeline corrosion problems and expensive maintenance.
Three versions of the Under Pipe Support have been developed to suit a
wide range of conditions, pipeline temperatures and client preferences:
Type A – Factory fitted narrow strip of adhesive for initial bonding
during installation. Secondary adhesive to be applied according to
clients requirements.
Type B – Factory fitted with full width of adhesive.
Type C – Supplied without adhesive for fitting using client’s choice of
adhesive.
Type B products are intended for use where the primary objective is to
provide an anti galvanic corrosion barrier between the pipe and the pipe
rack and where only slight and/or infrequent movement between the pipe
and rack is anticipated.
For general use where frequent and or significant movement between
pipe and rack is anticipated we recommend the use of Type A products
with the specified secondary adhesive system. Temperature range: The
basic UPS shoe is continuously rated for use at temperatures between
– 196°C and + 160°C. The adhesive pre-fitted in types A and B is continuously
rated from –35°C to +95°C with intermittent excursion to +150°C. For
applications in which the pipe temperatures lie outside those of the built
in adhesive type C units should be specified with an appropriately rated
adhesive.
UNDER PIPE SUPPORT - TYPE A [Ref: UPS/A]

Type A are supplied with a factory fitted adhesive tape down the centre section of the curved surface to effect initial bonding to the pipe during installation, the edge gap being filled with a secondary two part adhesive such as epoxy or methacrylate. Type A are for general use where frequent or significant movement between pipe and rack is anticipated.
